For all of you out there who don't already know a lanyards is simply a key chain that is meant to be worn around the neck. This helps you to keep track of, and to avoid loosing your keys. Still not sure exactly what a lanyard is? Think of them like a lifeguard's whistle, hanging around his or her neck, except there is no whistle... a set of keys. They useful, simple devices are made for only a few keys, perhaps a set of house or car keys. After all, you really wouldn't want that much weight to be chained around your neck. So if you are the type of person that has a key chain that can double up as a replacement for your workout equipment, lanyards are probably not for you...

As I said before lanyards are very simple, inexpensive devices and do not require much explanation. This hub was not written to explain all of the uses of lanyards but more to share with all of you all the different types of lanyards out there... If you are on the market for a lanyard, here are some interesting ideas to help you choose a unique key chain that is right for you.

Lanyards come in a variety of lengths, colors and styles. Maybe you aren't looking for something flashy. Maybe you are simply searching for something simple to keep your keys safe... To each his own. If you are looking for a simple lanyard to hold your keys, choose a plain colored, simple one by all means, but keep in mind that there are still many styles to choose from. There are lanyards that are adjustable so that you can make them as tight around your neck as you'd like. Lanyards also come in a variety of sizes. This is important depending on who you are shopping for. After all, you wouldn't get a child the same size lanyard as a grown man. Below are two examples of lanyards, one regular strap and one with an adjustable strap. These are just two of the most common examples of lanyards.

The first image is an adjustable lanyard that can be made to suit anyone. Below is a plain old nonadjustable lanyard. The nonadjustable lanyards can also be bought in several different sizes and colors.

Although these two are the most common types of lanyards, there is another newer lanyard variety that has become quite popular over the last few years. This is the detachable lanyard. Now that we have gotten through the basic no frills part of the article, lets move on to some more creative lanyards. If you are looking for something a bit more unique and decorative, there are literally thousands of lanyards to choose from. Everything from beaded to leopard print, from your name to your school's logo, from pink to black, from studded to silk. If you can think of it, odds are that you will be able to buy the lanyard that you are looking for.
