Gout is a a very painful form of arthritis that is brought on by a persons diet and separability. For people who suffer from gout attacks, especially those who suffer from ongoing chronic gout attacks, the only comfort that they can have is that this particular form of arthritis, although very painful, is only temporary. Gout attacks can come on at any time and can last anywhere from a few days to a few weeks. The main reason why certain people suffer from gout attacks is due to the foods that they eat. Gout is brought on by a chemical in the body called uric acid. This chemical is produced in excess when certain types of foods are overly consumed. In this hub I will explain exactly how these foods affect you body and lead to gout and which foods are known as “gout causing foods”. This will help those who suffer from gout attacks avoid them.

Your body constantly has a low amount of uric acid flowing through it. This chemical is produced in the kidneys when certain foods are eaten. When we eat these foods our bodies are flooded with higher levels of uric acid. Certain people are unable to pass the chemical quickly enough and it begins to gather in the joints of the feet, usually the big toe. When this happens the uric acid begins to crystallize and cause the arthritic pain.  Once the kidneys stops producing such high levels of the acid the body can begin eliminating the chemical faster than it is being produced and the gout will disappear. Foods that cause the kidneys to produce such overinflated amounts of uric acid are high in purines, mostly foods with a very high fat content. So it is safe to say that if you would like to avoid having gout attacks that you should try and avoid foods with a lot of purine in them. Below I have created a list of very common gout causing foods for you gout sufferers to keep in mind the next time that you are grocery shopping. This is a simple and easy way for you to avoid another gout attack.

Fatty meats, such as, red meat, pork, poultry, and pork

Vegetables, such as, peas asparagus, lentils, spinach, cauliflower, and mushrooms

High fat dairy products, like, whole milk, certain yogurts, cream, half and half, butter, and ice cream

Alcohol, yes all alcohol period...

Avoiding these high purine foods can help you and your loved ones avoid suffering from an other gout attack. Gout causing foods are the sole reason as to why you are suffering from gout attacks. Certain people are more susceptible as their bodies have more trouble getting rid of uric acid than others but if these foods are kept in check, you easily stay gout free.
