Does The 2010 Olympic Torch Look Like A Joint
We're only half way through 2009 and already there's talk about the next Olympic Games. When you think about the Olympics what comes to mind? The Comradery of nations comming together to compete for the glory of the gold medal. Maybe the thought of seeing new, up and coming athletes break Olympic records, setting the bar higher year after year. Surely when you think of the Olympic games one the first things that to comes to mind is the Olympic Torch.
Originating in ancient Greece where it was kept lit for the entirety of the Greek Olympic Games, the running of the torch sybolizes the theft of the fire of Zuese by Prometheus. In 2010, the Olympic Torch will be carryed by over 12,000 people over 28,000 miles to its destination in Vancouve.
Yet, talk of the upcoming Olympic Games isn't about tradition, honor, pride, or brotherhood. The buzz is all about the torch. Not what the torch represents but what it looks like. People seem to think that the 2010 Olympic Torch resembles non other than a joint. Some are even calling it the Olympic Toke.
Of course Olympic officials are denying any and all allegations that the torch was created to look like a joint. In my opinion, it's a sad, sad day when such an amazing world wide tradition is mocked in such a way... Although... It does kinda look like a joint... What do you think?
